The political tussle started again with the neutrality of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). This time the debate started with the speech of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In an event on Sunday, the Union Finance Minister said that the ED is forced to enter the investigation. Trinamool joined after his comments. The party's state general secretary Kunal Ghosh hit back.
He said, "Where there is a political deficiency of BJP, a central agency like ED is being used to fill it." On Sunday, Nirmala Sitharaman gave the certificate to this central investigation agency and said, "ED is a completely independent investigation agency." ED has to step in when an agency like CBI starts an investigation. Because, a lot of money, gold coins are being recovered. Incidentally, ED is a financial corruption investigation agency under the Ministry of Finance. In response, Kunal further said, "A BJP leader will appreciate any of their branches." ED was a credible organization. The officers of ED are competent and competent enough. But the way the BJP is using them for political purposes has raised questions about the role of this central investigative agency across the country. He further said, "It does not mean that I support wrongdoing or that my party is doing it." If there is any mistake, there is injustice, then ED should take measures impartially.
Incidentally, it is active in parallel with the CBI in cases like recruitment corruption, cow smuggling. They are investigating financial irregularities. After Partha Chatterjee, Arpita Mukhopadhyay, Manik Bhattacharya, former head of the Board of Primary Education, is in the net of ED. On Saturday also in this corruption case, they searched together in 6 places including Salt Lake, Kaikhali, Barasat, Rajabazara, College Square. The ED is also applying to a Delhi court to take Anuvrata Mandal's bodyguard Saigal Hose into custody in the cow smuggling case.
