Britain is getting the first non-white Prime Minister, 'Milestone' said by Biden

On Monday, US President Joe Biden responded to Rishi Sunak becoming Britain's next and first non-white Prime Minister. He termed this event as a 'groundbreaking milestone'. Biden said, "We have received news that Rishi Sunak is now the Prime Minister. He is expected to be prime minister when he visits the king tomorrow. Pretty amazing. A groundbreaking and important milestone.'' Biden said at a White House event on the occasion of Diwali.

White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre said Biden would call Sunk in the future. He also said that it was protocol for the US President to congratulate the next British Prime Minister when he met the King and would be formally invited to form a government.

Sunk, 42, won the race to lead the Conservative Party on Monday. He will be the youngest leader of the country at present. He is set to become the third leader in less than two months. He is set to succeed Liz Truss. Lees was Prime Minister for only 44 days. Earlier, he said he would step down to restore stability in a country that has been in years of political and economic turmoil.

After being elected, Rishi Sunak told the nation that Britain faced a 'profound economic challenge'. He added, 'We need stability and unity now, and I will make it my top priority to unite our party and our country.' He added, 'I pledge that I will serve you with integrity and humility; And I will work day and night for the British people.'

Rishi Sunak's father was a general practitioner Yashbir and mother Usha was a pharmacist of Indian origin. His family immigrated to Britain from East Africa in the 1960s.

Born in southern England, Rishi Sunak studied at world-leading institutions such as Oxford University and Stanford University. His wife Akshta Murthy is the daughter of Indian tycoon NR Narayan Murthy.

Sunak's political career began in 2015 when he won the safe Tory seat of Richmond in Yorkshire. He was suddenly promoted from a junior position in the Treasury to Chancellor of the Exchequer when his former boss, Sajid Javid, resigned in February 2020.
