But he resigned from the post of president after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. But the real surprise of this election was the non-participation of the Gandhi family. Every time a member of the Gandhi family participated in the Congress presidential election. But this time neither Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi nor Priyanka Gandhi participated in the election. After 24 long years, someone outside the Gandhi family will become the party president.

According to Congress sources, Congress party leader and interim president Sonia Gandhi will be present at the Congress headquarters during the announcement of election results. Priyanka Gandhi may be present. Rahul Gandhi will not be able to attend as India is participating in Jodo Yatra. Ashok Gehlot, who is very close to the Gandhi family and Chief Minister of Rajasthan, will also come to Delhi on this day. Even though the results will be declared today, the swearing-in ceremony of the Congress president will be held after Diwali.
