AICC Congress President Election Counting: This year's Congress President election is between two candidates. On one side is senior leader and MP Mallikarjun Kharge, on the other side is another MP Shashi Tharoor.

Who will be the next president of Congress?

New Delhi: The long wait is over. The main opposition party Congress (Congress President Election) is going to get the president today. Sonia Gandhi was handling the duties as the interim president since the resignation of Rahul Gandhi in 2019. But several party workers repeatedly demanded a new president to strengthen the party more organizationally. According to that demand, on Monday of this week, on October 17, the election of the National President of the Congress was held. Today, October 19, the results of the presidential election will be announced.

In the 137-year history of the Congress, the sixth president is going to be elected this time. Earlier in 2017, Rahul Gandhi was elected unopposed as the Congress President. But he resigned from the post of president after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. But the real surprise of this election was the non-participation of the Gandhi family. Every time a member of the Gandhi family participated in the Congress presidential election. But this time neither Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi nor Priyanka Gandhi participated in the election. After 24 long years, someone outside the Gandhi family will become the party president.

This year's Congress president election is between two candidates. On one side is senior leader and MP Mallikarjun Kharge, on the other side is another MP Shashi Tharoor. Who will be the next president of the Congress will be chosen from among these two leaders. Both leaders are optimistic about the election results.

On the other hand, preparations for the counting of votes are also in full swing. Yesterday, October 18, ballot boxes from different parts of the country reached the Congress headquarters in New Delhi. It is currently kept in the strong room. Counting of votes will start from 10 am. The final result may be declared by 3 or 4 pm. According to Congress sources, Congress party leader and interim president Sonia Gandhi will be present at the Congress headquarters during the announcement of election results. Priyanka Gandhi may be present. Rahul Gandhi will not be able to attend as India is participating in Jodo Yatra. Ashok Gehlot, who is very close to the Gandhi family and Chief Minister of Rajasthan, will also come to Delhi on this day. Even though the results will be declared today, the swearing-in ceremony of the Congress president will be held after Diwali.
